Mega
Connect
In this epic, open-ended discussion review game, students work to create 'connects' which are either four tiles in a row (horizontally or vertically). Students earn tiles by successfully answering your open-ended questions that you created during the setup, which you can use our inbuilt AI to build and save precious minutes in your prep time. The game ends when there are no more tiles to place, you end the game or the timer that you set during the setup reaches zero.
The team or student with the most connects at the end of the game wins! But remind students not to get too complacent, as students can steal from each other. This can be a whole lesson, 20 minutes, or anywhere in between, totally up to you! This is such a great review game and one worth trying today. 🧰 How to setup/use?
-
Firstly, open up the teacher link (remember to open up the student link, copy the URL, and have that ready to give to students so they can join your lobby!).
-
Sign into your PrepLess Teaching account. If you don't have one, no stress, simply create an account and then sign in (it will take less than 30 seconds).
-
When you log in, you will be taken to the teacher dashboard. Here you will be able to access your saved games that you have previously created (either during a lesson or prior to a lesson). If you don't have any games or want to create a new one, simply click on the 'Create New Game’.
-
You will now enter the game creation menu. Here, you can enter your game title and either create questions yourself, or if you want to save time and preparation, simply use the inbuilt AI to generate questions.
-
To use AI, enter your lesson focus in the topic, enter the year level, and if you would like, provide extra guidance on what you want the AI to generate questions around (this is great if you want it to focus on a certain area within a topic). Then, select the number of questions and the difficulty.
-
This may take 20-30 seconds to generate, but once generated, you can go through and edit the questions, removing any that you don't like.
-
Once you have populated the game with questions, it is now time to fine-tune the game settings. You have the ability to choose the board size; the smaller the board, the quicker the game will run. You can adjust the maximum number of players you will let into the game.
-
And lastly, you have the ability to toggle steal mode on or off. We recommend having it on as it adds an extra gameplay element to the class.
-
Now that you have set up the game, you can either immediately launch it by clicking on the 'launch game' button or, if you have created it in advance, simply 'Save Draft' and it will appear in your 'Saved Games' in the dashboard when you first log in.
